Dear All,
Well this is finally the last time that I
will be sending you the monthly "President`s POV"! As you know my input as
President of the ACO, has finally reached it`s natural conclusion, new ideas
and new blood is now required.
It has been a great pleasure to have
fronted this Association for the last 2 years at the very beginning of it`s
life! I hope that mine and the Board of Directors contribution and effort in
order to create the Association of Camera Operators will not be in vain, and
with time, the ACO will grow into a respected and important organisation with
members all over the world.
I know that the next President and the new
Board of Directors, will look forward to achieving new and different objectives
to the ones we had, and with the support and understanding from the membership as
a whole, they will be able to create a stronger and healthier ACO.
In a way we have come a long way, in
another we haven`t, it is important to realise that we all have to get involved,
to participate in whichever way we can, if we really want to achieve our
original aim:
"The primary aim of the Association is to celebrate and
promote the technical and creative skills of the Camera Operator and also to
enrich these skills by being at the forefront of developments in technology and
production methods."
The next President, and myself share the
same basic need, your co-operation and support.
There are now a few ways you can help the
ACO without getting too involved, you could insist on the ACO letters to be added
to your credits, this will give us exposure in the industry. Attending the
events that will be organised on your behalf, this will give us power to raise
finances with our patrons. You can also show your support with ideas for future
events or even better get involved in future events. It is all there waiting
for you…
We have and will keep developing a great
website, full of opportunities to be utilised by all of you, look and find how
to use it`s tools properly, you can put all your information in one place, it
was created for you! The more you use it the more people will hear about it.
The future is definitely bright, I am happy
to leave the reins of the Association in more capable hands.
All in all we have a future, be proud of
belonging to that future.
Please don`t forget the Annual General
Meeting on Sunday 26 January 2012, at Panavision UK 10:00am. If you can make
it, it will be great to see you, if not remember all Full Members have to vote
on the changes to the Board of Directors and the Offices of the ACO, either in
person at the meeting or by e-mail to me president@theaco.net
Well I would like to thank everyone,
members, Board of Directors, Patrons, supporters and friends!
With special thanks to Peter Cavaciuti,
Peter Robertson, Chris Plevin, Nick Lowin and not least Stuart Craig from
Virtual Media.
Thank you all so much for all your encouragement
and help.
And that brings me to the final word.
Adieu!
Rodrigo Gutierrez ACO
